"Helping You Find Confidence Beneath the Waves"
At Sea Sirens, we believe the ocean is for everyone. We empower divers of all levels to enter the water with confidence, build skills safely, and discover a deeper connection to the sea. We're more than a dive school — we're a community built on support, curiosity, and respect. For our students, for the ocean, for the experience of being underwater. Every lesson is designed to help you feel capable, calm, and ready for adventure.
Why Sea Sirens is Different
Safe, Mindful, Personalized Instruction: We focus on teaching at your pace, combining technical skill with mindfulness, awareness, and confidence-building with strong emphasis on dive safety.
Experienced, Caring Instructors: Our team, led by Roxanne Carter, brings over 25 years of quality, real-world diving experience and a grounded, patient instructor approach that makes learning feel safe and approachable.
Connection Beyond the Dive: We want every student to finish their training feeling confident, capable, proud, and truly connected to the oceans and waterways they explore.
Community & Adventure: Sea Sirens isn’t just about diving — it’s about joining a community of like-minded adventurers, dreamers, and ocean lovers. Building our community one diver at a time.
Whether you’re taking your first breath underwater or working toward your next certification, Sea Sirens is here to guide you — with safety, confidence, care, patience and a sense of wonder for every moment below the surface.
Roxanne Carter is the heart of Sea Sirens — a calm, grounded instructor who brings over 25 years of ocean experience to every lesson. A licensed 100-ton ship captain, a NOAA-credentialed officer, a marine biologist, college adjunct, a trained yoga instructor and passionate animal rescue volunteer, Roxanne's background is as expansive as the sea itself. Her foundation shapes her approach to teaching: with breath, awareness, intention, and genuine skill. For Roxanne, scuba diving is more than a sport — it's a space where people learn to trust themselves, connect with their bodies, and meet the ocean with curiosity and confidence. Her yoga training runs quietly through her approach, bringing mindfulness and compassion that her students feel from their very first breath below the ocean waves.
Why Students Love Learning With Roxy
She teaches you to breathe — not just dive. Her years studying yoga give her a deep understanding of breath control, helping students stay calm, reduce air consumption, and keep a steady mind in new or challenging environments.
She helps you move with intention underwater. Roxanne’s training in alignment and body awareness makes her uniquely gifted at helping divers master posture, buoyancy, and efficient movement — the foundations of confident, enjoyable diving.
She brings grounded, real-world calm. Life hasn’t just made her strong — it’s made her steady. Roxanne has a way of helping students relax, find their rhythm, and trust their skills, even when a moment feels big or unfamiliar.
She coaches, she doesn’t pressure. Years of teaching have given her a patient, judgment-free approach. She breaks skills down clearly and makes them feel achievable, creating a supportive learning environment for every body, every age, and every starting point.
She helps you connect with the ocean — not just get certified. Roxanne’s love for the sea is genuine and contagious. She worked as an endangered species biologist for many years. She believes in diving as both adventure and healing — a chance to meet yourself with wonder, courage, and joy.

▹ Do I need to be a good swimmer? You don't need to be an expert swimmer, but you should be comfortable in the water. Basic requirements include swimming a short distance and treading water for 10 minutes.▹ What equipment do I need?Your training includes a visit to a local dive shop where you'll be expertly fitted for everything you need. Most students only purchase personal items — mask, snorkel, fins and booties — for fit and hygiene. Tanks, BCDs, regulators, and wetsuits are typically provided or rented until you are ready to purchase your own set.▹ Where are lessons held?Training locations vary based on the course and conditions, and may include confined water pools, shore dives or local Florida springs.▹ How physically fit do I need to be?All students complete a brief medical questionnaire. Conditions like asthma, diabetes, or heart issues don't automatically disqualify you, but may require a doctor's clearance before diving.▹ Does my certification expire? No — your certification is valid for life. If you haven't dove in 6+ months, a refresher dive and maybe a course is recommended to rebuild confidence and skills. Determined on a case by case basis.▹ What if I'm claustrophobic or anxious underwater? You're not alone — and you're in the right place. At Sea Sirens, we move at your pace, using mindful, patient instruction to help you feel calm and comfortable from your very first breath underwater. Modern equipment, including wide-visibility masks, also helps ease the experience.▹ How long does it take to get certified? Most certifications are completed in 3 to 4 days of pool and open water sessions, following PADI or SDI eLearning completed in advance. At Sea Sirens, we allow up to 6 days for private instruction, so there's no pressure to rush.

Beginner Scuba Courses
Whether you're brand new to the water or returning after some time away, Sea Sirens has a course to meet you right where you are.Our beginner offerings include the foundational PADI Open Water Certification for those ready to start their scuba journey, and the Discover Scuba course for anyone who wants to experience the underwater world before committing to full certification. Not quite ready to dive? Our Snorkeling course is a perfect introduction to the sea at your own pace. For certified divers whose skills have lapsed, the Re-Activate course combines e-learning with hands-on instruction to bring your certification back up to standard and restore your confidence in the water. We also offer a personalized one-on-one Refresher course tailored entirely to you — focused on the specific skills you want to revisit and sharpen.Roxanne's calm, professional approach ensures every student feels comfortable and supported, making Sea Sirens the ideal place to take your first breath underwater or rediscover the joy of diving.
Open Water certification is the entry-level scuba diving certification that qualifies you to dive independently (with a buddy) without a professional guide. It's the starting point for virtually every diver and is recognized worldwide. The course typically covers three main components. First, knowledge development — online e-learning — where you learn the fundamentals of dive physics, equipment, safety procedures, and dive planning. Second, confined water training (usually a pool) where you practice essential skills like clearing a flooded mask, recovering a regulator, controlled ascents, and buoyancy control. Third, open water dives — usually four dives in a lake, spring, or ocean — where you apply everything you've learned in a real dive environment under instructor supervision.Upon completion, you receive a certification card (e-card) from the certifying agency (PADI, SDI) that is recognized at dive shops and charter boats around the world. It allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 60 feet (18 meters) and rent equipment, fill tanks, and book dive trips independently. The course typically takes a 3-5 days to complete depending on scheduling, abilities and the certification never expires — though agencies recommend diving regularly to maintain proficiency, which is where courses like the Re-Activate and Refresher options Sea Sirens offers come in handy.
